How do I open Windows Firewall?

1. Open Control Panel by clicking on the Windows icon located in the bottom left corner of your screen, then selecting Control Panel from the list of options.

2. Click on System and Security.

3. Click on Windows Firewall.

4. On the left side of the window, click on Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

5. Check to make sure that Turn on Windows Firewall is checked in both the Private network settings and Public network settings sections, then click OK.

6. You should now be able to view the Windows Firewall Settings.

7. If a notification appears at the bottom of the window asking you to allow a program to communicate with other networks, select either Allow or Block depending on the type of program.

8. To view or change an existing firewall rule, click on Advanced Settings on the left side of the window.

9. In the Advanced Settings window, click on the appropriate Inbound Rules or Outbound Rules category.

10. Any existing rules will appear in the middle column. To view the details of a rule, click on the name of the rule. To modify a rule, double click on the rule and make any necessary changes, then click OK.

11. To add a new rule, click on New Rule in the right-hand column.

12. The New Inbound or Outbound Rule Wizard window will appear. On the first page, select the type of rule you want to create (Program, Port, or Predefined) and click Next.

13. Depending on the type of rule you selected, you will be asked to specify additional details, such as the program path or port number.

14. On the Action page, select either Allow or Block, then click Next.

15. On the Profile page, select the types of networks you would like the rule to apply to (domain, private, public, etc.), then click Next.

16. On the Name page, give the rule a descriptive name, then click Finish.

17. Your new rule should now be listed in the Inbound Rules or Outbound Rules window.

18. To delete a rule, highlight it and click on Delete in the right-hand column.

19. When you are finished making changes to the Windows Firewall settings, click OK at the bottom of the Firewall Settings window.

20. Your Windows Firewall is now configured.
