2. Disable Start-up Programs
Many programs are set to start when a user logs in to Windows. These programs often start automatically, even when they are not needed. Disabling unnecessary start-up programs is a great way to free up memory on a Windows computer. They can then select the drives they would like to defragment and click the Analyze or Defragment button.
6. Upgrade Memory
If a user finds that none of the above suggestions are helping to free up memory, they may want to consider upgrading the amount of RAM in their system. Adding more RAM will improve performance and give users the extra memory they need. To upgrade RAM, users will need to determine what type and size of memory they need and purchase it from a reputable retailer. Once they have the memory, they can install it, following the instructions given by the manufacturer.
