How do I change my power settings in the Windows Control Panel?

1. To change your power settings in the Windows Control Panel, begin by clicking on the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen.

2. Once the Start menu appears, locate and click on the Control Panel option.

3. The Control Panel window will now open. In the Control Panel window, you will see a search bar at the top right of the window. Click on the search bar and type in “power.”

4. Several options related to Power Settings will appear in the list below the search bar. Click on the “Choose power options” option.

5. You will now be taken to the Power Options window. In this window, you can see all of the available power plans listed. To select a new plan, simply click on the one you wish to use.

6. At the bottom of the window, a link called “Change plan settings” will appear next to the plan that you have selected. Click on this link.

7. After clicking on the link, another window will open where you can customize your power settings. This window will allow you to adjust settings such as how long your computer takes to go into sleep mode, when your computer dims the display, and how much power is used when your computer is idle.

8. After setting your preferences in each of these categories, click on the “Save changes” button.

9. Now, your new power settings will be applied to your computer. To ensure that the settings are being applied correctly, it is recommended that you restart your computer.

10. After restarting your computer, you will be able to verify that the new power settings are being properly utilized by your machine.
