1. Access Keyboard Preferences. Depending on your operating system, you may have to go through your system settings to access the keyboard preferences.
2. Choose the Shortcut Keys Tab. Once in the keyboard preferences, look for a tab that says “shortcut keys”. Select this tab.
3. Make Modifications. Most shortcut key customization screens will allow you to edit preexisting shortcuts, or create your own.
4. Change Action. You can choose the action you want to be performed when your desired shortcut key is used. A drop-down menu or list should give you the options available.
5. Enter Shortcut Key Combination. You should then enter the key combination that you would like to use as a shortcut. If you prefer, you can enter multiple key combinations.
6. Save Your Changes. Most customizing screens will have an option to save your changes, and the changes should take effect immediately.
7. Confirm Your Changes. In some cases, restarting the computer may be required for the new shortcut keys to take effect. Check that your shortcut keys work as expected.
