Installing Apps and Programs in the Control Panel
The Windows Control Panel is a collection of tools that let you change various settings on your computer. In addition to being able to customize your system, it also allows you to install and uninstall apps and programs. Installing apps and programs through the control panel is relatively straightforward, and the process is the same for both.
1. Begin by opening the Control Panel by entering Control Panel into the search bar on your taskbar.
2. Once the Control Panel window has opened, select “Programs and Features” from the list of options.
3. On the new window that appears, select “Install a program or app from the internet or a disc”.
4. You will now be presented with two windows – one that displays the current apps and programs installed on your system, and one that will let you install new programs or apps.
5. To install an app or program, click the “Add or Remove Programs” link located near the top-right corner of the window.
6. You will now be presented with different options for how you want to install the application or program. You can either choose to install from the internet, disc, or a local folder. Select the option you prefer.
7. If you are installing from the internet, simply type in the name of the app or program you want to install. If you’re installing from a disc, insert the disc into your computer’s CD/DVD drive. If you are installing from a local folder, browse to the folder containing the app or program files.
8. Once the appropriate files have been selected, click the “Install” button in the lower-right corner of the window. The app or program will now begin to install. Depending on the size of the application or program, this process could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
9. Once the application or program has finished installing, it should be available to use immediately.
Uninstalling Apps and Programs in the Control Panel
Installing apps and programs from the control panel is a relatively straightforward process, as is uninstalling them.
1. Begin by opening the Control Panel by entering Control Panel into the search bar on your taskbar.
2. Once the Control Panel window has opened, select “Programs and Features” from the list of options.
3. On the new window that appears, select the application or program you want to uninstall.
4. Once you have selected the application or program you want to uninstall, click “Uninstall” in the upper-right corner of the window.
5. You will now be prompted to confirm that you want to uninstall the selected application or program. Click “Yes” to continue.
6. The application or program will now begin to uninstall. Depending on the size of the application or program, this process could take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
7. Once the application or program has been successfully uninstalled, it will no longer be available on your system.
