How do I uninstall old drivers in Windows?

1. Shut down your computer and unplug any external devices.

2. Open the Device Manager by right-clicking ‘My Computer’ or ‘This PC’, then click ‘Manage’, and select ‘Device Manager’.
3. Locate the device for which you want to uninstall the old drivers. Expand the category of the device in the list.
4. Right-click on the device you want to remove, and select ‘Uninstall’ from the context menu.
5. You will be prompted with a window asking whether you are sure you want to delete the selected device. Click ‘Yes’ to continue.
6. If a confirmation dialog box appears, click ‘OK’ or ‘Yes’ to confirm. This will uninstall the current driver.
7. When the uninstall process is completed, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Select ‘Restart’ to restart your computer and complete the uninstall process.
8. After your computer restarts, Windows will detect the device and automatically reinstall the driver. If you don’t want Windows to automatically install the driver, you can disable the Windows automatic driver installation feature.
9. To disable automatic driver installation, open the ‘Control Panel’, and select ‘System’.
10. On the left side of the window, click ‘Advanced System Settings’.
11. Then, click ‘Hardware’ tab and click ‘Device Installation Settings’.
12. You will be prompted with a dialog box asking you whether you want Windows to automatically download driver software and realistic icons. Uncheck both options and click ‘OK’.
13. Now Windows won’t automatically install drivers for new devices that you connect to your computer.
14. To manually install the drivers, locate the device drivers downloaded from the manufacturer’s website or an online source.
15. Right-click the device you wish to update, then select ‘Update Driver Software’.
16. In the Update Driver Software window, select ‘Browse my computer for driver software’.
17. Click ‘Browse’, and navigate to the folder where you downloaded and extracted the drivers. Select the device driver you wish to install and click ‘OK’.
18. When prompted with a ‘Windows Security’ dialog, click ‘Install’ to install the new driver.
19. Once the driver installation is complete, you will be prompted with a message indicating the status of the installation. If the installation was successful, the driver should now be installed and the device should be functioning properly.
20. Repeat steps 2 to 19 for all the devices you wish to update.
21. Once all the drivers have been updated, restart your computer and your system should now be using the latest drivers.
