A miner is an individual or group of individuals that help to secure and verify transactions on a blockchain network. Miners use specialized hardware and software to process complex mathematical calculations in order to verify each transaction and add it to the blockchain ledger. They are rewarded with newly created cryptocurrency for their efforts.
