An altcoin is any cryptocurrency that is not Bitcoin. This includes any coin created after Bitcoin, such as Ethereum and Litecoin, as well as a large number of smaller coins and tokens. Altcoins typically attempt to improve upon the limitations of Bitcoin, such as transaction speed and total supply, and provide additional features that Bitcoin does not offer.
