The Windows Defender Firewall is a component of Microsoft Windows designed to protect a user’s computer system from unauthorized access or damage. The Windows Defender Firewall is enabled by default when a system is first installed, but you may need to make changes to the Windows Defender Firewall settings if you want to add an exception or configure the security settings.
To open the Windows Defender Firewall settings, you will need to open the Control Panel on your computer. You can do this by either navigating to the Start Menu or typing “Control Panel” into the search bar at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Once you have opened the Control Panel, select the “System and Security” option. Under the System and Security option, select the “Windows Defender Firewall” link. This will open the Windows Defender Firewall window where you can view and make changes to the settings.
From the Windows Defender Firewall window, you will be able to see the current firewall settings. If you need to make changes, you can click the “Advanced Settings” link in the left panel.
When you click the “Advanced Settings” link, additional options will be displayed in the right panel. From here, you will be able to make changes to the Windows Defender Firewall settings. To add an exception, click the “Inbound Rules” or “Outbound Rules” link in the left panel and then click the “New Rule” button.
You can also use the Windows Defender Firewall to monitor the activity of applications and services that are attempting to access your computer. To do this, click the “Monitoring” link in the left panel. This will display a list of active rules for both inbound and outbound connections.
If needed, you can also configure the Windows Defender Firewall settings to allow certain types of traffic through the firewall. To do this, click the “Customize Settings” link in the left panel. This will open a new window, where you can review and configure the security settings for each network connection type.
Once you have finished making changes to the Windows Defender Firewall settings, click the “OK” button to save your changes. Your Windows Defender Firewall settings will now be updated with the settings you configured.
