How do I compress a file on Windows?

Compressing a file on Windows is quite simple and can be accomplished in a few simple steps.

2. Right-click on the selection and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder from the context menu.

3. A new compressed file will be created in the same directory with a .zip extension. This file is the compressed version of the files you selected.

4. To rename the compressed file, right-click on it and choose Rename from the context menu.

5. To extract the contents of the compressed file, simply double-click on it and the files will be extracted in a subfolder.

6. To delete the compressed file, right-click on it and choose Delete from the context menu.

In addition to using File Explorer to compress files, you can also use WinRAR or 7-Zip to create and extract content from compressed files. These applications offer additional features such as improved file compression, password protection, and the ability to split the compressed file into multiple parts.
