How do I create a shortcut on the Windows desktop?

How to Create a Desktop Shortcut in Windows:

1. Right-click on an empty portion of the desktop and select New > Shortcut from the context menu.

2. In the Create Shortcut window, type the path or command for the program or file you want to create a shortcut to in the Type the location of the item field.

3. Click Next.

4. In the Type a name for this shortcut field, type a name that identifies the shortcut and click Finish.

5. The shortcut icon will now appear on the desktop. You can then right-click the shortcut and choose Properties to modify the shortcut’s properties, such as its name, icon, and target location.

6. To move the shortcut to a new spot on the desktop, click it once with your left mouse button, press and hold down the left mouse button, and drag the icon to its new location on the desktop.

7. To rename the shortcut, right-click it and select Rename from the context menu. Enter a new name in the text box and press Enter when finished.

8. To delete the shortcut, right-click it and select Delete from the context menu.
