How do I update Windows?

Updating Windows is an important part of keeping your computer running smoothly. Microsoft releases free updates to Windows to address security and feature issues, so it’s important to keep your computer up-to-date.

There are several different ways to update Windows.

1. Using the Windows Update Tool
The most common way to update Windows is to use the Windows Update tool, which is included with all recent versions of Windows. To launch Windows Update, click on the Start Menu, then type “Windows Update” into the search box.

When you first launch Windows Update, it will run a scan of your computer, looking for any pending updates. You can then choose which updates you want to install and click “Install Now” to begin the installation process.

2. Using Automatic Updates
If you don’t want to manually check for updates, you can enable Windows Automatic Updates, which will automatically download any available updates and install them without any user intervention. To enable Automatic Updates, open the Control Panel, click on “System and Security”, and select “Windows Update”.

On the Windows Update page, toggle the switch next to “Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates” to “On”. This will enable Automatic Updates and ensure that any available updates will be installed automatically.

3. Microsoft Updates Website
If you would rather manually download and install updates, Microsoft also offers a website that allows you to download and install updates. To access this website, visit https://update.microsoft.com/.

When you arrive at the website, you will first need to install the Microsoft Update Catalog Add-on. This add-on will allow you to search the Microsoft Update Catalog for the latest updates. Once you’ve installed the catalog add-on, you can conduct a search for any available updates and download and install them.

4. Third-Party Utilities
In addition to Microsoft’s own update tools, there are a number of third-party utilities available that can help you keep your computer up-to-date. These tools allow you to easily search for and install updates, as well as manage any existing updates.

Most of these utilities are free, but some require a purchase. Be sure to do your research before downloading and installing any third-party software.

Updating your computer is an important part of keeping it running smoothly. With the various methods listed above, you should be able to easily find and install any available updates.
