What are miners and how do they work?

Miners are computers that are used to confirm and secure transactions on a blockchain network. They solve complex mathematical equations to verify transactions, add them to the blockchain, and collect rewards in the form of cryptocurrency tokens such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. To do this, miners compete with each other to solve mathematical puzzles. The miner who completes the puzzle first is rewarded with the token. This process is called “proof-of-work” and it ensures that the blockchain remains secure and immutable.
