How do I move files or folders to a different location?

There are a variety of ways to move files or folders from one location to another. The most common methods involve using drag-and-drop, a file manager, or the command line.

To move files or folders using drag-and-drop:

• Open two file windows side by side by right clicking on either one, then select “Open in another window” or the “New Window” option.

• Navigate to the location of the source file, then drag the file or folder to the new location while keeping the mouse button pressed.

• Release the mouse button when the cursor is at the desired target location.

The file or folder will now be moved to the new location.

To move files or folders using a file manager:

• Open the source directory by navigating to it in the File Manager window.

• Select the file or folder you want to move and press the “Ctrl” and “X” keys simultaneously to cut it.

• Navigate to the directory where you want to move the file or folder and press the “Ctrl” and “V” keys simultaneously to paste the file or folder into the destination directory.

To move files or folders using the command line:

• Open the Command Prompt window and navigate to the directory containing the source files or folders.

• Enter “move ”, replacing the placeholder with the name of the file or folder you want to move and the placeholder with the path of the directory you want to move it to.

• Press “Enter” to execute the command.

The file or folder will now be moved to the new location.

Using any of the above methods, you can easily move files or folders to a different location. However, bear in mind that if you’re moving files or folders between two different locations that require authentication, you may need to use an application like WinSCP or Filezilla to authenticate before being allowed to move the files. It’s also important to remember to back up any important data before moving files or folders so that you’ll have a way to recover it if something goes wrong.
