How do I uninstall an application?

There are many different ways of uninstalling an application or program, depending on the operating system being used. This guide provides a general overview of how to uninstall a program or application on a variety of different systems.

On Windows 10

1. Open Start. Click the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

2. Open Settings. Click the gear-shaped icon in the lower-left side of the Start window.

3. Click Apps. It’s near the top of the Settings window. Doing so opens a list of your installed applications.

4. Find the program you want to remove. Scroll down the list until you find the program or application you want to uninstall. If you don’t see it in the list, type the program’s name into the “Search” bar at the top of the Settings window and click the search result that appears.

5. Click the program. It should appear as an individual item in the list.

6. Click Uninstall. This option is located underneath the program’s name. Doing so will prompt a pop-up window.

7. Select an uninstallation option. Depending on the program, you may be asked to confirm your selection by selecting certain checkboxes or clicking a “Yes” or “Uninstall” button.

8. Follow any additional on-screen instructions. Depending on the program, you may have to answer a few more questions or confirm additional settings before uninstalling the program.

9. Wait for the program to uninstall. The amount of time it takes depends on the size of the program and your computer’s processing speed.
