How to copy a file in Windows?

Copying a file in Windows is a simple process. To begin, open the folder that contains the file you want to copy. This can be done by double-clicking on it from Computer in the Start Menu.

Once you’ve opened the directory, locate the file you wish to copy and right click it. This will bring up several options, one of which is “Copy”. Select this option.

The file will then be copied to your computer’s clipboard. To place the copy in another folder, simply open the folder you want it to go into. Right-click inside the folder and choose “Paste”. The file will then be placed inside the new folder.

If you wish to rename the copied file, you can do so by clicking on it, pressing F2 and typing in the new name. Once done, press Enter.

Alternately, you can also copy and paste files using keyboard shortcuts. On the keyboard, press Ctrl+C to copy the file. Then open the desired folder where you’d like to place the copy and press Ctrl+V. This will instantly place the copy of the file in the folder.

You may also utilize drag-and-drop to copy a file. Simply click on the file and hold down the mouse button while dragging it towards the desired folder. Release the mouse button when over the folder and the file will be copied inside it.

In some cases, you may also want to duplicate a file rather than making a new copy of it. To do so, select the file and press Ctrl+D at the same time. This will create an exact duplicate of the file with the word “Copy” added to the end of its name.

Finally, if you want to copy multiple files at once, hold down the Ctrl key and click each file you want to copy. Then, release the mouse button and press Ctrl+C to copy the selected files. To place them in another folder, open it and press Ctrl+V.

These are all the ways you can copy a file in Windows. Depending on the type of file and the number of them, you can choose the method that is most suitable for you.
