How to rename a file in Windows?

Renaming a file in Windows can be done in different ways depending on the version of Windows you have and the type of file you are working with.

For Windows XP and earlier versions:

1. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.

2. Right-click on the file you wish to rename.

3. Select Rename from the pop-up menu.

4. Type the new name and press Enter.
