How do you enable or disable Automatic Updates?

Windows 10 includes a number of features to ensure that your operating system and applications remain up-to-date. One such feature is Automatic Updates, which downloads and installs critical and important updates as they become available. There are several ways to enable or disable this feature.

To enable or disable Automatic Updates on Windows 10:

1. On your Windows 10 computer, press the Windows key + R to open the Run window.

2. In the Run window, type “Control Panel” and hit Enter.

3. When the Control Panel appears, look for the System and Security category, then click on Change settings.

4. Under Windows Updates, select either Install updates automatically (recommended) or Enable automatic updating.

5. When you have made your selection, click OK to save your changes.

If you would like to manually download and install Windows Updates, you can do so by following these steps:

1. On your Windows 10 computer, press the Windows key + R to open the Run window.

2. In the Run window, type “Control Panel” and hit Enter.

3. When the Control Panel appears, look for the System and Security category, then click on Check for Updates.

4. This will open the Windows Update window where you can check for available updates.

5. Select any updates you would like to install by clicking on them.

6. When you have selected all of the updates you would like to install, click Install Now to begin downloading and installing them.

If you would like to completely disable Automatic Updates on Windows 10, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Open the Run window by pressing the Windows key + R.

2. In the Run window, type “services.msc” and hit Enter.

3. When the Services window appears, look for the Windows Update service.

4. Right click on the Windows Update service and select Properties.

5. Under the General tab, change the Startup Type to either Disabled or Manual.

6. Click Apply and OK to save your changes.

This will disable the Windows Update service and prevent it from running. This means that Windows Updates will not be downloaded or installed automatically on your computer. It is important to note that disabling the Windows Update service can put your computer at risk from security vulnerabilities, as you will no longer receive important security updates.

No matter which method you use to enable or disable Automatic Updates, it is always a good idea to check for updates manually every once in a while to make sure that your computer is up-to-date.
